Distinction in the European architectural competition for the regeneration of the "Germaninas" farm in the area of Pafos in Cyprus
The historic farm Germaninas is an important monument of traditional architecture. As a key demand of the proposal we put the management of the relationship between the old existing shell and the proposed new construction, first-level uses and then at architectural level. The proposed buildings have distinct distance from the old in all cases. This distance between the new and old construction is both an important intermediate space of motion and the required distance so that past and present are distinct in our surgery. On the other hand, the new structure is shown as a single arrangement - an object resulting from a perception of overall shape. It is those structural features that result from the analysis of landscaping formations. In order to transform the building volume in a landscaping configuration, the proposal uses an element of 'intermediate ', which can refer to both the earthly terrain and the building structure. It is the element of "folding”, which is able to implement the covers of buildings, correspondingly to the forms of the natural terrain .
