1st prize and construction of the international architectural competition for a pedestrian bridge in the city of Pafos in Cyprus
The form of the bridge is a continuous line that results from a sequence of transformations of a simple transverse line crossing the avenue. The first transformation is derived from the vehicular traffic flows that distort the form into two bends. The presence of the adjacent temple to the south creates a further distortion, resulting in the main observation area, with panoramic views of the temple and the archaeological sites on the horizon. The final distortion is informed by the shape of the site itself. The linear sidewalks are reconfigured to form entry and exit areas to the bridge, the shaded areas and the landscape, at the beginning and end of the journey.
