The Esperia Hotel, a key building in Athens' historic center, has been closed since around 2010 and needs restoration. Located along a major historical axis, near landmarks like the Hilton Hotel complex, the Athens Concert Hall, and Evagelismos Hospital, the renovation aims to integrate the new façade with the urban surroundings while preserving the building's historical significance.
We aim to restore the building’s original design intention by unifying façade elements into a system reflecting its historic character. Existing features like the grid of balconies and horizontal rooftop elements will create a 'filter' that highlights the architectural details.
We will maintain and update the historic façade to blend with modern urban aesthetics, respecting the building's past and enhancing its visual impact in the contemporary cityscape.
On the lower floors, denser vertical elements will shield visitors from the busy street. On the upper floors, sparser vertical elements will offer clear views of the city. The main restaurant on the 9th floor will provide views of the Acropolis and the city’s west side. A small dining area on the rooftop terrace beside the swimming pool will offer panoramic city views.
The hotel will include versatile spaces for various functions, accommodating guests, hosting events, and providing amenities. The layout will ensure the hotel serves as a luxurious retreat and a venue for gatherings.
The renovation of the Esperia Hotel combines historical preservation with modern design. We aim to restore the building’s original charm while creating a contemporary space for guests and events. The redesigned façade, versatile spaces, and elevated restaurant and pool area will contribute to a unique and inviting experience for visitors.
