Close G.S.P. Area in Nicosia
Our proposal for the G.S.P. area in Nicosia aims to transform the park's level to align with the entry level of the THOC building and the urban landscape with the city's level. The old G.S.P. Stadium, situated on one of Nicosia's central axes, is surrounded by key public buildings like the Ministry of Finance, the Cyprus Theatre Organisation (THOC) building, and the Parliament. These two levels, natural and artificial, form a dynamic field of transformation and interaction, heavily influenced by the site's parameters.
The natural level curves and descends to the city level, while the urban-artificial level rises to the park's level. This intertwining creates a new terrain. The forces applied to the natural and urban levels differ in intensity and geometry. Specifically, the entrance and cafeteria of the THOC building, the movement along Evagoras Avenue, and the project's functionality define the dynamics shaping the area.
This approach results in a continuous surface connecting all points of interest into a cohesive system. By blending the natural and urban landscapes, we create an interactive and engaging environment. This enhances the experience for visitors and residents. Additionally, the intertwining systems encourage movement and interaction, promoting a seamless transition between the park and the city.
Revitalizing the G.S.P. area improves the visual and functional aspects of the space. It also contributes to the city's cultural and social life. Thus, the new design will create an inviting atmosphere for various activities. From casual strolls to organized events, the area will become a central hub of urban life.
Incorporating sustainable practices is key to our proposal. Green spaces, water management systems, and energy-efficient structures will minimize environmental impact and ensure the project's longevity. Consequently, this commitment to sustainability will set a standard for future urban development in Nicosia.
Our vision for the G.S.P. area in Nicosia is to create a harmonious blend of natural and urban elements. This blend will revitalize the space and enhance the city's character. By focusing on the interaction between different levels and systems, we aim to create a dynamic, functional, and aesthetically pleasing environment that benefits all who visit.
By transforming the park's level to align with the urban landscape, we seamlessly integrate the natural and artificial elements. Additionally, the intertwining systems foster movement and interaction, enhancing the visitor experience. Consequently, this approach improves both the visual and functional aspects of the space, contributing significantly to Nicosia's cultural and social life. Moreover, our commitment to sustainability through green spaces, water management systems, and energy-efficient structures ensures the project's longevity.
Ultimately, our vision creates a harmonious blend of natural and urban elements, revitalizing the area and setting a standard for future urban development.
