The project concerns the construction of a new 5-star hotel in Kos, specifically in the Koumbourno area of the "Lampi" settlement. This area currently features existing hotel buildings, residences, and leisure shops, with the beach located a short distance away. The design of this new hotel in Kos includes guest rooms, common areas, and additional facilities.
The hotel features multiple buildings: one for the guest rooms and another for common areas on the ground floor. In addition, the basement houses a multipurpose hall, a spa, and a kitchen. This hotel in Kos aims to create a blend of modern luxury and natural harmony.
To achieve a human-scale environment and integrate the building with nature, the design divides the large building mass into smaller volumes. The design uses natural materials and colors in the public areas of the complex. Moreover, extensive planting around the hotel blends the building with the surrounding natural landscape.
Visitors enter the hotel from the southern boundary of the plot through an opening in the fence. The room layout maximizes sea views. In front of the ground-floor rooms, a large communal swimming pool serves as a central relaxation area for guests. The surrounding greenery creates a favorable microclimate throughout the year.
The building volumes are arranged on the plot with a continuous frontage. This frontage breaks into open and semi-open spaces. In this design, a solid base transforms into smaller volumes, which repeat in various forms to complete the hotel’s composition. The design resembles the spatial organization of traditional Greek settlements.
Overall, the Hotel in Kos emphasizes both comfort and a connection to nature. By integrating green spaces and providing a communal pool area, the design enhances the guest experience. Additionally, the hotel includes a multipurpose hall, a spa, and a kitchen to support the hotel’s functions and offer amenities for guests.
