Interior Renovation Project For The Moraitis School
ATHENS, 2024
The project for Moraitis School is the renovation of an existing historic building that, over time, needed an update to meet today’s educational needs. The design respects the original character of the building while refreshing its interior spaces to support new ways of learning and interaction.
Color plays an important role in the renovation, helping to give the spaces a renewed identity, improve orientation, and create an environment that feels both calm and engaging.
The project aims to transform corridors and classrooms into spaces that support well-being, connection, and a strong sense of community. This design approach is developed through clear architectural decisions in materials and layout. Vinyl flooring is used throughout corridors and classrooms for durability, acoustic comfort, and easy maintenance.
Windows between classrooms and corridors introduce transparency, allowing more natural light and visual connection while supporting safety and supervision. Corridors are redesigned as active spaces rather than simple passageways, with integrated seating areas for both students and teachers that encourage informal learning, rest, and social interaction. Furniture, finishes, and colors are selected to be robust, timeless, and suitable for daily school use.
As part of the Inspired Education Group, the project reflects a contemporary approach to education that values flexibility, quality, and supportive learning environments.
