Close Office Complex on Kifisias Avenue
The design group was tasked with redesigning the interior of an existing office complex on Kifisias Avenue and a retail store building. This project aimed to meet the demands of a rapidly growing contemporary company. Built in 2000, the building is part of a larger compound. It consists of five levels (ground floor, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th floors) and a basement. Furthermore, it exemplifies post-modern architecture with its rectangular glass façades and interior layout.
To meet the building's current needs, the interior renovation counters the existing perpendicular design. By doing so, the design introduces new lines of flow that penetrate the building grid. Consequently, the floor plan is completely regenerated. Thus, the interplay of empty and filled spaces, as well as light and shadow, adheres to these new lines. This approach creates a consistent sensation of an alternating environment.
On a functional level, the new lines create paths that generate spaces. For example, each floor plan now includes both open-plan and closed workspaces, all connected by the new grid. In addition, the upper part of each floor follows these new guidelines. As a result, the approach further disintegrates the existing structural logic. It also redefines spaces and paths, shaping the design of equipment such as lounge structures, desks, and meeting room tables. Thus, these elements enhance the cohesive character of the proposal and highlight the core values of the composition.
Overall, the redesign of the office complex on Kifisias Avenue aims to create a modern, functional, and cohesive environment. By introducing new lines of flow and adhering to a consistent design language, the proposal transforms the building's interior into a dynamic and functional space. Moreover, the interplay of light and shadow, along with the careful balance of empty and filled spaces, ensures a vibrant and engaging atmosphere for users. Thus, this approach not only meets the demands of a contemporary company but also respects the building's post-modern architectural roots. It also infuses the building with new life and functionality.
