Close Office Complex on Syngrou Avenue
The objective of this project was the redevelopment of an existing office complex on Syngrou Avenue, a prominent location in Athens. Syngrou Avenue is a major arterial road lined with commercial buildings, offices, and hotels. Our proposal aims to create a building that serves as a dynamic element within the urban fabric. In addition, it reflects the movement and flow characteristic of Syngrou Avenue. Moreover, the design seeks to imbue the building with a central role in the architectural identity of the owning company, positioning it as a key communicative tool. As a result, this identity will transform the urban and cultural landscape, showcasing the building as a landmark with a wide-reaching impact.
Firstly, the façade design reflects the dynamic movement of the avenue. Specifically, an unidirectional system of louvers transforms into a series of 3D formations, shaping the façade with a bioclimatic approach. This design effectively controls sunlight and creates a play of light and shadow throughout the day. Consequently, the louvers provide multiple possibilities for structuring the interior and offer flexibility in space utilization. During the day, the interplay of sunlight and shadows gives the impression of a moving façade. At night, carefully designed linear lighting of the louvers enhances the building's unique identity and subtly integrates it into the Athenian cityscape.
Inside, the office complex features open-plan workspaces and flexible office layouts to accommodate various business needs. Additionally, high-quality materials and modern finishes ensure a professional and inviting atmosphere. To align with contemporary standards, the integration of smart building technologies enhances energy efficiency and user comfort.
Furthermore, the design incorporates bioclimatic principles, optimizing natural light and ventilation to reduce energy consumption. In addition, green spaces and terraces provide outdoor areas for employees and promote well-being and productivity. These spaces also contribute to the building's overall sustainability by reducing the urban heat island effect.
Ultimately, the redevelopment of the 7-story office complex on Syngrou Avenue creates a landmark building that reflects the dynamic nature of its surroundings. Through innovative façade design and flexible interior spaces, the project enhances the urban fabric and provides a modern, sustainable workplace.
